I'm a big fan of going for afternoon tea. There is just something so fantasticly british about sitting down with a pot of tea and cute little stand of cakes & sandwiches, it makes me feel like I should be an extra in Downton Abbey or something! So when we were staying up in London (see more details in this post here) recently we
decided book afternoon tea at the Charlotte Street Hotel on our first day
staying there. The menu on the website had made it sound so tempting and we
thought it would be a perfect treat after our long journey up!
The Oscar Bar & Restaurant is so friendly and welcoming. With incredible designs on the walls to keep you interested and comfortable padded seating (which is a must for me). We had already phoned ahead to say that Mum is allergic to seafood and avocado so the two savoury items containing those things were kindly replaced for her. Everything was beautifully presented on a colourful cake stand, the scones were kept warm in a napkin envelope and the teapot and cups had gorgeous patterns.
Our Tea Included:
Savoury ~ Prawn Sandwiches, Avocado & Chilli Toasts, Ham & Cheese Croquettes, Chorizo Roll and Goats Cheese & Tomato Palmier
Sweet ~ Oreo Cupcakes, Chestnut Macaroons, Mini Battenberg Slices, Berry & Custard Tarts, Pear & Blackcurrant Strudel and a selection Mini Plain & Fruit Scones served warm with cream and jam.

As well as tea I also had a hot chocolate which was lovely. We were then given the choice or whether we wanted another round of savoury items or another round of scones! We went for the savoury option as we'd already had quite a sugar hit. We didn't find the tea too heavy or sickly though as can sometimes be the case, I think perhaps because of the miniature sizes. At £26 per person I think the tea is really good value. From what I can tell they refresh they're afternoon tea menu several
times a year, keeping things similar but just changing the flavours so they're
more seasonal. Check out the current menu here.
I also Vlogged whilst I was staying in London so you can see more of what I got up to in the video below!
Both Mum & I had such a fantastic stay in London and I couldn't reccomend this hotel highly enough! You can find out more about The Charlotte Street Hotel or other Hotels in the Firmdale group and book a stay via their website.
