Charlotte Street Hotel London

Charlotte Street Hotel London | Katie Kirk Loves

Recently I spent two wonderful nights in London staying at The Charlotte Street Hotel. A five star boutique hotel situated on Charlotte Street in the west end and in my opinion one of the prettiest hotels around. The street is buzzing with restaurants & coffee shops and is within walking distance of Oxford Street.

As you may be aware if you're a regular reader of my blog this stay was part of a prize with Oasis Fashion (see my post). back in June last year, before my blog was born. Along with a collection of clothes I won a two night stay at the Charlotte Street Hotel. I took my Mum and we had a lovely girlie mother-daughter break which included plenty of shopping, relaxing and eating delicious food! I had struggled to make this stay before now as I had been very ill with tonsilitis for 8 months plus I suffer from Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (so struggle with joint pain, fatigue and dizziness amongst other symptoms 24/7). However I would like to say a massive thank you to the Charlotte Street Hotel for being so kind and understanding of my illness and allowing us to extend our voucher expiry date multiple times in order for us to still be able to go!

Rooms | All the rooms are designed and decorated with individual colours and patterns by Kit Kemp. Our room was on the 1st floor and, as you can see from my pictures, was decorated with magenta and orange patterned accessories. It was so beautiful, our windows looked out onto Charlotte Street and even though it was a fairly busy street we didn't find it at all noisy at night. We had a two seater sofa, table & armchair, dressing table, TV with DVD player and plenty of storage. The bathroom is huge with marble floor and walls and twin sinks. The best part though was that the bath had a TV at the end of it! How amazing is that? With a little waterproof remote control. I felt like I could have just lived in there. I want one at home in my bathroom now. We requested tea and coffee making facilities in our room as you should note they don't come as standard with the room (but even though you have to request them you won't get charged extra). The mini bar didn't get touched as everything was so expensive, I just looked longingly at some of the items! I would definitely request this room again if I'm ever lucky enough to stay again.

Couldn't resist a selfie in this psychedeic lift!

Accessibility | The hotel has a few steps to negotiate on entry but luckily I was fine managing those. The rest of the hotel is all on the flat with lifts to each floor and I believe they have a special completely wheelchair accessible room on a higher floor. My wheelchair was kept in a room downstairs for our trips out to Covent Garden and Oxford Street as I didn't need it within the hotel itself.

Breakfast | Breakfast was an event in itself! First you are greeted by a sumptuous buffet table as you walk into the Oscar Bar & Restaurant before being seated. On the buffet table was everything from mountains of fresh fruits, yogurt, cereals and granola to an extremely tempting pastry basket! Our voucher included breakfast from the buffet plus a cooked item (to the value of £25) off the menu, which we took advantage of both days! There were almost too many options to choose from but I went for french toast with berries on the first morning and hash browns with bacon and grilled tomatoes the following day. Mum chose the crepes with apples, pears and cinnamon both mornings as she loved it so much!

Cocktails | We had cocktails our first evening there whilst we sat in the adorable guests living room area. Both my Mum & I went for the Raspberry Royal made with parma pomegranate liqueur, raspberry purée, prosecco and topped with a large blackberry, it was delicious.

Staff | The staff were so lovely and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble, they heated my wheat bag cushions on a regular basis (which I use to alleviate pain), kept my ice packs in their kitchen freezer for me to use at night, ordering us taxi's and lifting my wheelchair down the steps when I needed it. Other nice touches included finding glass bottles of cold water on our bedside tables after we'd been out, a welcome gift of a little candle and on our last day the hotel manager Luke gave us complimentary drinks and snacks before we left. Although the hotel is 5 star we didn't find it overly formal or pretentious, we felt comfortable and relaxed during the whole of our stay.

Both Mum & I had such a fantastic stay in London and I couldn't reccomend this hotel highly enough! You can find out more about The Charlotte Street Hotel or other Hotels in the Firmdale group and book a stay via their website.
