Metallic lipsticks seemed to have become popular over the last year, and I'm not talking glittery I mean pure, glistening, opaque metallics that look like they've been perfectly spray painted. I'd never tried one myself before so when I spied stunning pictures of the Jouer Cosmetics collection circulating on Instagram & Pinterest I decided those were going to be the ones for me! I chose the shades Praline & Citronade Rose as to me they looked like the prettiest and most wearable metallic shades, which is what I wanted.
They applied fairly smoothly and easily, it's quite a silky texture. I liked the applicator sponge as it was small and pointed enough for me to create a smooth lip line. It took a minute or so for them to dry down on my lips so you need to be a little patient as they feel quite tacky whilst they dry. Both shades had really good opaque coverage and remained genuinely metallic for a good couple of hours. It lasted when I had a drink but it did wear off when I ate my lunch. As it wears off it wears quite patchy so if you're going to wear it out for dinner then I'd recommend taking it in your handbag so you can reapply and not look weird!
Swatched | Praline (Top) and Citronade Rose (Below).
Citronade Rose | A metallic ballet pink shade. This is cooler toned than Praline, with a slight frost too it. I think it shows up the lines in my lips a little more too but I love how pretty and girlie it looks!
Praline | A metallic bronzed pink shade. This shade I've definitely found the most wearable of the two. It's warmer and I suppose closest to a metallic natural lip tone. I just adore the tone, I was looking for the shade that would give me dreamy Rose Gold lips and for me this is it! Rose Gold heaven.
Wearing the shade Praline.
A comparison of the two shades.
I bought them from Cult Beauty where I think they have the only but definitely the most extensive range available in the UK. These lipsticks aren't cheap at £15 each but personally I'm really glad I invested! Next on my Jouer Lipstick Wishlist are: Noisette & Terre which are matte nude shades, Cabernet a matte red, Snapdragon a metallic plum shade and I'm keen to try their famous lip toppers in Skinny Dip & Frost Bite, you can add these on top of any lipstick for a unique iridescent finish. I they did a deep red metallic shade I'd be all over that, get onto it Jouer! I also might venture into trying some of their non lip based products (they do have some!) there is a pretty looking eye shadow palettes and some highlighters that I'm liking the look of too! Something unique about Jouer Cosmetics is it's packaging, almost every product can slot together to create a bespoke palette. Once I build up enough of a collection I will try and make one!
