I thought that this year I would continue with my reviews of every fragrance collection that Yankee Candle release throughout the year! I really enjoy doing this myself and the posts seem to go down pretty well with you guys. I hope it gives you a little guide to what's out there at the moment and ideas as to what you yourself might like to try or gifts for others.
For the last two years Yankee have begun the year by releasing a trio of new fragrances into their Pure Essence range which have included - Aloe Water, Cassis & Shea Butter (2015) and White Tea, Verbena & Vanilla (2016). All of these scents are very pure, calming, comforting & almost spa-like and have become very popular. So to continue the tradition, this year another 3 fragrances have been created to add to this collection.
As usual I will be giving each a score out of ten after I've sampled them. I like to get the tarts/melts in all the new fragrances when they're released to try as I find it's the best & most cost effective way to trial fragrances before deciding whether I want to buy a jar. Melts generally throw out a strong scent in its purest form as there is no wick.
New Year 2017 | Pure Essence Part III
Linden Tree | "Fresh blooming Linden enjoyed through the green leafy sunlight of a quiet day".
This is definitely the fragrance I've been burning & enjoying the most out of the three! I didn't really know what a Linden Tree was to be honest with you, but apparently it's a type of lime tree! This doesn't smell anything like Lime though, it's a scent of sweet blossom with light refreshing notes. It reminds me a little of the scent of honeysuckle, divine! Linden Trees produce fragrant yellow flowers in the summer which attract numerous bees to them. It make such a refreshing change to be burning spring-like fragrances in my house right now after he heavier winter scents I've been used to. This is different again to the other florals that Yankee have in their current collection (how do they do that?!).
Top Notes: Hosta Leaves & Linden Blossom
Mid Notes: Viburnum
Base Notes: Musk & Cedarwood

Wild Mint | "Just-picked Wild Mint leaves - fresh, crisp, cool, bracing".
I was very intrigued when I heard about this fragrance as I've never burnt a 'fresh' minty candle before only sweet wintery ones like Candy Cane Lane and North Pole. This scent smells just like you've picked a fresh mint leaf and rubbed it together in your hands. You have the refreshing, cleansing mint but also green notes in there. I've found this to be a very calming and head clearing one to burn, great when you're feeling a bit under the weather or have a headache. I'm going to be stocking up on a few more of this to use during my upcoming medical treatment when I'll be feeling poorly. I also think it would be perfect to burn in the kitchen to get rid of any left over cooking odours or perhaps a spare room or bathroom that you want to keep refreshed!

Cherry Blossom | "An enchanting armful of Spring’s freshest blooms that turns any room pink and happy".
I was a big fan of the original, now retired, Cherry Blossom fragrance Yankee used to make so I was really excited to try this one out! To me it is quite different to the original it's sweeter and fruiter with a lot more cherry. Whereas the one I loved was definitely more floral. So if, like me, you were expecting it to be an exact replacement for your old favourite then you might be a little disappointed. None the less it is still a beautiful spring blossom fragrance that feels girlie and I've been enjoying burning it. Cherry Blossom is generally one of my favourite fragrances period and I'm always thought I'd like to go to Japan to see the incredible and iconic cherry blossom 'walks'.
Top Notes: Cherry
Mid Notes: Rose, Cherry Blossom & Jasmine
Base Notes: Powdery Musk & Sandalwood
