I often get questions on Instagram about what I use to style my hair so I thought I would dedicate a blog post to it! I’ve been trying out the new GHD Gold Festival Styler which was kindly gifted* to me. I was really excited to to receive it. I’ve been using my trusted original GHD’s for about 10 years now which are still going strong but I have been wanting to try some new updated ones to see if they’re any better! The festival styler is part a limited edition collection GHD have launched for summer which all have the most beautiful soft rainbow ombré effect on them. The colourful style appealed to me as soon I laid eyes on them! The Festival Collection 2019 includes the classic GHD Gold Styler, GHD Air Hair Dryer and the GHD Platinum Styler. The features I particularly love on my new Gold Styler are the automatic sleep mode that switches them off after 30 minutes of non use - so great for piece of mind!! The heat resistant bag is great to keep them in and pack in my suitcase when I’m travelling. It also has an optimum styling temperature of 185C which is hot enough to create your style but cool enough to avoid damaging your hair.

Shower to Styling Step by Step.

1. Get out the shower and I apply a small amount of Argan oil to the mid lengths and ends of my hair to nourish dry ends.
2. I make sure I spritz a heat defence spray, like this Tresemmé one (pictured above), in my hair before using any heated tools including the blow dryer.
3. Let as much dry naturally as possible and then then blow dry the rest.
4. Curl hair using GHD festival styler.

I have very fine fragile hair so I like to curl it as it adds extra volume. Usually I use my Babylisse copper curling want to curl my hair but since receiving this new GHD festival styler I’ve finally got the hang of using one of these to cut my hair - something I have not mastered before! I used the tutorials on GHD’s website for guidance: https://www.ghdhair.com/hairstyles/how-to-hair there are also plenty on YouTube if you prefer videos. You section off a piece of hair then place the styler at the root and rotate it half a turn away from your face then glide it down to the ends. Continue (you can alternate rotating away and towards your face for more textured look) until all hair is curled. I then like to run my fingers through it to great a softer more natural look. It gives a much sleeker finish than my curling wand which I like. I wish I was able to create some more exciting looks with my hair sometimes liked braids and different up do’s but due to my chronic pain and difficulty hold my arms up above my head, curling or straightening is the most I can manage. Although if you follow me on Instagram you’ll know I’m a fan of a bow or popping a flower crown on - that’s about as adventurous as it gets though!

The GHD festival styler has a more rounded barrel than my old ones which makes them so much better for creating curls. Due to the texture of my hair I find it usually holds curls for 2-3 days, they do drop a little but I quite like how it looks softer and more natural after a day or so. This means I don’t need to use heat on it everyday which is really important to help protect the hair. I don’t curl my hair each time after I wash it either, usually only if I’m going to be going out or doing photography. I try to use a hair mask at least once a week to keep my hair hydrated and soft too.

I hope you found this helpful! You can pick up the GHD Festival Styler online here. Tag me on Instagram with any hairstyles you create with them! If you have any easy styles you want to recommend I try post them in the comment below & I’ll see if I can give them a go.
