I’ve been really enjoying going fruit picking this autumn, having found a couple of new PYO’s in my area.
I picked all of these vibrant coloured plums, which were a variety called Hagenta, and made them into a several delicious crumbles. A plum crumble has become my favourite kind of crumble now, I think! The apples I made into both crumbles and mini apple turnovers. The latter of which were so incredibly easy to make I’m going to start making them with all kinds of fillings and into different shapes now! Just some ready roll puff pastry, cut, fill and seal with a fork crimping the edges, egg wash, sprinkle with sugar (or cinnamon sugar for the elite option), bake until crisp and done!
I have struggled to find Apple Orchards near me that offer a PYO option though. The apples in the images below I bought from the local farm shop and just took along to the orchard for the aesthetic! So, I am still on the lookout for a pick your own Apple Orchards in the West Sussex for next year. If anyone has any thoughts on that drop them in the comments section below!
I hope you enjoy this round up of seasonal fruit picking pictures. Let me know if you’ve been fruit picking this season and what you picked?
